Services at the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres)

Our basic services are available at the ELY Centres all over Finland.

The ELY Centres offer patent-related information material, forms, price lists and brochures and give general advice.

Invention advisors

The National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland employs together with the Foundation for Finnish Inventions and the ELY centres 16 invention advisors who work at the ELY Centres. Their task is to promote innovation and the technical, productional and commercial exploitation of inventions. They assist inventors in questions related to patenting and other industrial property issues, product development and funding applications.

Services at universities and higher education institutions

In the same way as with the ELY Centres, the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland cooperates with the Foundation for Finnish Inventions and several universities and institutions of higher education by employing 12 innovation advisors who work at the institutions in question. Their task is, similarly, to promote innovation and the technical, productional and commercial exploitation of inventions, but with the main focus on promoting innovative ideas that arise from the academic world. They also assist inventors in questions related to patenting and other industrial property issues, product development and funding applications.
