Online services

Patent documents can be filed online through the eOLF (Epoline Online Filing) software whenever you wish. The filing date will be the exact day the documents arrive at the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland (NBPR), including weekends and holidays.

You can file online:

  • National patent applications
  • EP applications
  • PCT applications
  • Translations of European patents
  • PCT applications pursued in Finland
  • Replies to NBPR office actions
  • Utility model applications

To do this you need:

  • eOLF, or Epoline Online Filing, software (free)
  • a qualified certificate, or a card allowing you to use electronic signing
  • a card reader and a driver software for it
  • PDF creation software
  • PCT applications can also be filed using WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) PCT-SAFE software (free)

Payment services

  • Payment lists (in Finnish)
  • You can search for payments for national patents, utility models and EP patents validated in Finland.
  • EP patent reference (in Finnish)
    You can create reference numbers for annual fees for EP patents.
  • Collecting payments (in Finnish)
    National registered patent attorneys can collect several payments into one invoice. In order to use this section, you need a user name and password provided by the NBPR (apply using the online form)
