Board of Appeal
The Board of Appeal of the National Board of Patents and Registration (NBPR) processes and takes decisions on appeal cases in respect of which it is provided that they are to be decided on by the National Board of Patents and Registration.
The operation of the Board is governed by the Act and by the Decree on handling of appeals in the National Board of Patents and Registration, and by the Administrative judicial procedure act.
Decisions taken by the NBPR may be appealed against to the Board of Appeal where decisions have been taken in respect of following matters:
- patents;
- utility models;
- layout designs of integrated circuits;
- trademarks; or
- designs.
Appeals may also be lodged in cases where anyone of the following has been refused by a decision taken by the NBPR:
- the registration of a notice filed with the Trade Register or the Register of Associations
- an application concerning a permission to establish a foundation,
- an application for the ratification of the rules of a foundation,
- the registration of a notice filed with the Register of Foundations.
