Striking-Off of Limited Companies in 2003 in Accordance with Section 24 of the Trade Register Act
Limited companies that have not submitted any notifications to the Trade Register after 1992, and are presumed to have closed down their business, will be deleted from the Trade Register.
The particulars of limited companies have been compared with the particulars contained in the Finnish Business Information System to ensure that limited companies that still are active are not removed from the Register. Limited companies entered into the Prepayment Register, the VAT Register, or the Employer Register kept by the Tax Authorities are considered as active and are therefore not struck off the Register.
In mid-May 2003, we sent an enquiry to limited companies (list of limited companies) that are subject to our striking-off procedure, in order to find out whether the limited companies still carry on business. Only limited companies that still carry on business are expected to answer the enquiry.
Limited companies that will be struck off the Register are published in the Trade Register Gazette in early autumn and are removed from the Register in December after the period of public notice.
Housing companies will not be deleted from the Register.
