Closed-Down General Partnerships and Limited Partnerships will be Struck off the Trade Register
The National Board of Patents and Registration will, under Section 24 of the Trade Register Act, delete from the Trade Register those general partnerships and limited partnerships that have closed down their operations. The striking-off concerns general partnerships and limited partnerships that have not submitted any notifications to the Trade Register since 1993, and are presumed to have closed down their business.
The particulars of general partnerships and limited partnerships have been compared with the particulars contained in the Finnish Business Information System to ensure that general partnerships and limited partnerships that still are active will not be removed from the Register. General partnerships and limited partnerships entered into the Prepayment Register, the VAT Register, or the Employer Register kept by the Tax Authorities are considered as active and are therefore not struck off the Register.
In May 2004, we sent an enquiry to general partnerships and limited partnerships that are subject to the striking-off procedure, in order to find out whether those partnerships still carry on business. The enquiry was sent to some 10,000 general and limited partnerships and they were asked to answer it not later than on 11 June 2004.
If a partnership does not send an answer, it is given public notice in the Trade Register Gazette inviting it, before an appointed date, to report if it carries on business. The public notices will be published in the Trade Register Gazette at the end of the summer.
If a general partnership or limited partnership still after the public notice does not report itself, and no other information verifies its operation, it will be removed from the Register in December.
