New Director for the Register of Associations

Mr Kari-Pekka Helminen, LLM with court training, has been appointed as new Director of the Register of Associations at the National Board of Patents and Registration as of 1 October 2005. He has been working with the Register of Associations since 1989, most recently as Deputy Director since 1999.

The Register’s current Director, Mr Kalevi Sadeluoto, is to retire in the autumn.

Finland is the Promised Land of associations. At the end of 2004, a total of 122,761 associations had been entered in the Register of Associations, with an estimated total membership of some 15.3 million. Last year 2,260 new associations were entered in the Register.
