President Enäjärvi elected to head the Administrative Board of an EU Office
Mr Martti Enäjärvi, President of the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland, was on 23 November 2005 re-elected as Chairperson of the Administrative Board of the European Union’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market – Trade Marks and Designs (OHIM).
In a session of 25 countries, Martti Enäjärvi was unanimously elected for a new three-year term beginning in March 2006. He will at the same time function as Chairperson of the OHIM’s Nomination Committee. These are positions of trust, and Mr Enäjärvi will thus continue carrying out his duties as President of the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland in the normal manner.
OHIM (the EU Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market – Trade Marks and Designs) is located in Alicante, Spain, and is one of the largest EU offices operating outside Brussels. It deals with and grants trademarks and design rights in the whole EU territory. Today, OHIM employs a staff of around 700.
