Changes in appeal fee and filing of petitions of appeal

The Decree of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy concerning the chargeable services of the National Board of Patents and Registration (Decree No. 1085/2009) entered into force on 1 January 2010. The decree raises the appeal fee to 200 euros for appeals processed by the NBPR Board of Appeal which have been lodged against decisions made by the registration authority. The new fee is stated in the instructions accompanying authority decisions that are subject to appeal. However, if the decision was made before 31 December 2009, the old fee of 150 euros will still apply.

Petitions of appeal addressed to the NBPR Board of Appeal must be received by the NBPR Registry (PatRek Client Service) at the latest by 4.15 pm on the last day of the appeal period, irrespective of method of delivery. The appeal fee must also be paid within the same time limit.

Please also follow the other directions given in the appeal instructions when lodging an appeal.
