Number of new businesses registered fell by 5% compared to last year

In January–June 2012, the Trade Register recorded 16,688 new businesses and housing companies, which is 5% less than during the same period last year.

Helsinki accounted for the highest number (3,166) of new businesses and housing companies.

8,395 of the new businesses are private traders and 6,527 are limited liability companies. These two types of business account for nearly 90% of all new businesses.
