Trademark clients keep getting unclear reminders

Trademark clients of the National Board of Patents and Registration continue to receive unclear reminders. For example, Suomen Tavaramerkkirekisteröinti Oy - Finska Varumärkesregistrering Ab has sent reminder letters to trademark proprietors whose trade mark registrations are about to expire.

The companies which send these letters use, for example, the names STM Suomen Tavaramerkit ®, Suomen Tavaramerkkirekisteri Oy, and SUOMEN TAVARAMERKKIREKISTERÖINTI OY.

Our client service has received many inquiries concerning these letters in the past weeks. The NBPR stresses that the companies mentioned above, despite their names, have nothing to do with the Trademark Register run by the NBPR. Unsolicited reminders have even been sent to registration proprietors who already have taken steps to renew their registrations.

If the proprietor of a registration does not wish to change any register entries in connection with the renewal of the trademark, the renewal can be simply made by paying the renewal fee directly to our bank account. The renewal fee of a trademark is at the moment 235 euros and covers three classes for 10 years.

The Trademark Register contains over 70,000 trademarks registered in Finland.
