Businesses do not have to inform the Trade Register about changes in registered offices due to merging municipalities at the turn of the year
At the beginning of next year, 26 municipalities will be merged into ten municipalities. Businesses do not have to make amendment notifications to the Trade Register due to merging municipalities, the National Board of Patents and Registration (NBPR) will automatically update the business’s registered office in the Trade Register free of charge. The names of retired municipalities may continue to be part of the business’s name.
The NBPR will make the changes in January 2013. The updated information will be shown on Trade Register extracts and in the Business Information System (BIS) that is jointly maintained by the NBPR and the Tax Administration.
However, the new registered office will not be updated automatically in the business’s organisation rules. When businesses amend the Articles of Association or Partnership Agreements, they should also update the change in registered office caused by the merging of municipalities. This change is subject to a fee.
Detailed information on handling fees and on how to make notifications are available on the Trade Register’s website.
