Period of Validity of Registration of a Design

Registration of a design shall be valid for five years, dating from the day on which the application for registration was made. However, because the design registration may be renewed at the most six months after the expiration of a current period of registration, the registration is not removed from the Designs Register before the six-month period has expired. For this reason, the right to a design is not necessarily terminated even though the registration period marked in the register has already expired.
