FI-EP Register

You have monitored the patenting policy of your competitor and noticed that the competitor has applied for – and obtained – a European patent for an invention that is harmful to your business. Finland is designated in the patent. In order to validate the patent in Finland, the applicant has been given a three-month period for submitting a Finnish translation of the patent to the National Board of Patents and Registration. You can check if the translation really has been submitted by visiting the FI-EP Register. If the patent cannot be found in the register and about four months have gone since the grant of the patent, it is a sign that the patent is not in force in Finland.
