For an application to become pending, it is an essential requirement that the application fees have been paid. Banking charges, if any, must be included in the amount paid, and a copy of the receipt has to be enclosed with the application. We do not refund application fees to the applicants if the application is rejected or dismissed, and not even if the applicants themselves withdraw their application. These fees under public law are exempt from VAT.
The fees are based on the Decree of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy on the Services Liable to Charge of the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland (859/2012) issued on 20 December 2012.
