How to renew your trademark

There are two ways to renew a trademark registration:

1) by filing a renewal application

If you wish to make changes to any of our register entries concerning your trademark, you must apply for a renewal in writing. The application must be filed either in Finnish or in Swedish. A proprietor with neither domicile nor registered office in Finland must appoint a representative.

2) by paying a renewal fee

If you do not wish to change any register entries, you renew the trademark by paying a renewal fee – you need not fill in any application. However, the receipt of your payment must contain the following information:

We do not send any confirmation of the renewal to you, but you can contact us about a week after payment to check that the renewal has been made.

A registration can be renewed within a timespan from one year before to six months after its expiry date. For renewals made before the expiry date, the renewal fee is 235 euros, covering three classes of goods. For each additional class, we charge a fee of 125 euros. The renewal fee for a collective mark is 330 euros. If you renew a registration within six months after the expiry date, the renewal fee is 270 euros, and for a collective mark it is 355 euros.
