Composition of the Board of Appeal
The Board of Appeal consists of the Chair and two members.
The post of the Chair is held by the Director General or by an official of the National Board of Patents and Registration whom the Director General appoints and who is experienced in the duties of a judge or in the application of the Administrative Judicial Procedure Act.
State officials who have a higher academic degree and who are familiar with the legislation concerning the case at issue act as other members.
The Chair invites the members to a session on the basis of the nature of the appeal case being heard. This is a way to try to ensure sufficient familiarity with and expertise in respect of each case being heard.
