Potential effects of Brexit on the validity of EU trademarks and Community designs in Great Britain and Northern Ireland after 30 March 2019

The European Commission and the UK – Great Britain and Northern Ireland – are negotiating on Brexit, the UK’s exit from the EU. The aim is to provide continued protection in the UK of EU trademarks and Community designs after Brexit.

If there is no deal, the UK will leave the EU on Saturday 30 March 2019 at 01.00 Finnish time. The outcome may therefore be that EU trademarks and Community designs would not continue to be valid in the UK after 30 March 2019.
