Renewal of trademark registrations may change in 2019: no longer possible to renew registrations by bank transfer only

The aim is that the new Finnish Trademarks Act will enter into force on 1 January 2019. The new Act no longer allows the option of renewing a trademark registration by only paying a renewal fee without filing an application with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH).

We will give more information about the law reform on our prh.fi website later.

Renew your trademark registration online

You can file and pay your renewal application online in Finnish or in Swedish. To use the service you need to first identify yourself using your internet banking codes or a mobile certificate in the Suomi.fi e-Identification service.

Renewal fees paid to the PRH after 1 January 2019 without any renewal application, will be returned directly to the payer.

For further instructions go to the prh.fi website.

Identify yourself and go to the online service in Finnish or in Swedish. Requires identification in the Suomi.fi service.

Applicants who are not able to identify themselves in the online service, or to obtain the required identification means, can use a paper form to renew their registration. Submit the application by email to the PRH in Finnish or in Swedish. Your representative must have their domicile or registered office within the European Economic Area (EEA).
