Finnish Patent and Registration Office Terminology published

The publication covers 250 concepts in Finnish, and their equivalents in Swedish and English, relating to our office’s administrative branch. The terminology is published at and and can be used freely.

The objective of Finnish terminology work is to build a shared metadata register for the central government at The terminology will be of use in developing information systems and in law-making. It will also be useful for our customers, as our vocabulary may be difficult to understand.

We created the terminology together with a terminologist from the Finnish Terminology Centre TSK.

The Finnish Trade Register, Register of Associations and Register of Foundations, which are maintained by the PRH, as well as the patent and trademark databases, contain information resources that are of major importance for society. By using the newly published terminology, you can now make use of our knowledge of industrial property right terminology and our expertise in companies, associations and foundations.
