Changes to our fees on 1 January 2020


The new price lists of the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) will be published on this website at prh.fi on 1 January 2020.


Below is a summary of the most important fee changes concerning:

Most important fee changes in the Trade Register

The additional fee for filing on paper will be 55 euros for all Trade Register notifications. The amount is equivalent to the additional fee currently charged for filing changes on paper to company representation details (change of board of directors, holders of procuration, persons entitled to sign for the company, auditors, the managing director or house manager).

In the same way, the fees for paper applications (application for the appointment of a liquidator and application for ordering a deregistered company into liquidation) will be raised from 85 euros to 95 euros.

Trade Register’s new handling fees for papers notifications and applications

  • Start-up notification for private trader: 115 euros (previously 110 euros).
  • Change of capital or shares for limited liability company, co-operative or savings bank: 295 euros (previously 285 euros).
  • Decision on issue of option rights: 435 euros (previously 420 euros).
  • Loss of share capital: 95 euros (previously 85 euros).
  • Change of company name for private trader: 115 euros (previously 100 euros).
  • Notification of auxiliary company name: 115 euros (previously 100 euros).
  • Other change: 95 euros (previously 85 euros).
  • Notification of draft terms of merger or demerger: 240 euros (previously 225 euros).
  • Application for a public notice to creditors in merger or demerger: 435 euros (previously 420 euros).
  • Notification of implementation of merger or demerger: 240 euros (previously 225 euros).
  • Application for the appointment of a liquidator: 95 euros (previously 85 euros).
  • Application for ordering a deregistered company into liquidation: 95 euros (previously 85 euros).

The PRH has been registering beneficial owners of companies since 1 July 2019, when the amendments of the Finnish Trade Register Act entered into force. The fee for a register extract about an organisation’s actual beneficial owners is 7 euros.

Most important fee changes in the Register of Enterprise Mortgages

The fees for applications and notifications about enterprise mortgages will be reduced by 17–20 percent depending on the type of matter.

  • Application for registration of a mortgage: 140 euros (previously 170 euros).
  • Assuming liability for a mortgage: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Extension or limitation of a registered mortgage: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Combining of mortgages: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Changing of the mutual priority of mortgages: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Notification of the holder of the promissory note secured by a pledge (per mortgage): 20 euros (previously 25 euros).
  • Notification of suing for a claim: 20 euros (previously 25 euros).
  • Application for dividing a mortgage in connection with the division of a company: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Notification to the effect that mortgages remain with the company which is being divided: 50 euros (previously 60 euros).
  • Notification of continuation of business and of transfer of a mortgage: 200 euros (previously 240 euros).
  • Conversion of the monetary unit of a mortgage: 20 euros (previously 25 euros).

Most important fee changes for patents and utility models

In patent application matters, we will abolish the fee for ordering documents cited in the office action. In future, the applicant will receive the cited documents automatically with no charge. In the same way, we will abolish the fee for ordering documents cited in a utility model search, and the applicant will receive the cited documents with no charge.

A new fee will be introduced for patent supplementary protection certificates (SPC): the publication fee for a notification of manufacturing waiver is 100 euros.

In international PCT applications, the fee for copies of cited documents under PCT Rule 44.3(b), 45bis7(c), or 71.2(b) will be abolished.

Due to a change in the euro/Swiss franc rate, the WIPO has decided to adjust the following fees for international PCT applications:

  • International filing fee: 1217 euros (previously 1169 euros).
  • Additional fee for each page over 30 pages: 14 euros (previously 13 euros).
  • Reductions in the international filing fee, when the application is filed in electronic form (using the ePCT portal of the EPO Online Filing software) and
    • the text of the description, claims and abstract is in XML format: 275 euros (previously 264 euros).
    • the text of the description, claims and abstract is in PDF format: 183 euros (previously 176 euros).
  • Handling fee (IPEA/FI): 183 euros (previously 176 euros).

Those using the EPO Online Filing (eOLF) software can download the new price lists when they become available. The updates will be delivered via the Live Update feature in eOLF. Go to the EPO’s website.

Most important fee changes for trademarks and design rights

In trademark matters, we will now introduce two different fees for oppositions, applications for revocation or invalidation, and applications concerning registered trademarks. If you file such an opposition or application with the PRH by email or on paper, we will charge a higher fee than if you use our online filing service.

  • Fee for filing an opposition to a registration: 325 euros (275 euros online).
  • Fee for administrative revocation or invalidation: 450 euros (400 euros online).
  • Fee for entry in the Trademark Register, for each entry: 150 euros (100 euros online).

In design right matters, we will abolish the publication fee. The application fee will be raised to 250 euros. If you file the application on paper or by email, the application fee will be 300 euros.
