PPH cooperation with Eurasian Patent Organization starts in August

In spring, the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) programme. The three-year pilot period starts 1 August 2020.

By filing one single application for a patent at the EAPO, you can easily obtain a patent in all the countries that have joined the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC). The agreement between the EAPO and the PRH will cover both national and PCT applications.

The idea of the PPH is to fast-track the processing of patent applications and to reduce overlapping examination work done by different patent offices. PPH means that an applicant who has filed a first application with a first office and has received a positive opinion that the claims are allowable may request fast-track processing when filing a corresponding application with a second office.

You can find more detailed instructions on filing a PPH request on our website. www.prh.fi/pphen
