Client of the Trade Register – watch out for misleading phone calls, letters and invoices

As a client of the Finnish Trade Register, you might receive phone calls and letters or invoices and order forms that have nothing to do with the Trade Register maintained by the PRH.

They come from Finland or from abroad and are in Finnish or in English.

What kind of misleading phone calls?

The Finnish Trade Register never makes marketing calls. The only case the Trade Register may contact you by phone is if there are gaps in your company’s notification.

In a misleading call, the caller might for example offer you the opportunity to check your company’s registered details and to update the details in a “company register" or at the Business Information System for an annual fee. The caller might also give you the impression that your company will be removed from the “register" if you do not pay the fee.

What kind of misleading letters?

All letters sent by the Finnish Trade Register always clearly include: FINNISH PATENT AND REGISTRATION OFFICE (PATENTTI- JA REKISTERIHALLITUS).

For example, a misleading letter may offer the opportunity to check and update your details in a “company register" or the Business Information System.
