We are starting PPH co-operation with the patent office of Uruguay in October

In spring, the patent office of Uruguay (Dirección Nacional de la Propiedad Industrial, DNPI) and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) signed a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) agreement. The three-year pilot period starts on 1 October 2022.

Applicants may request PPH processing at the patent office of Uruguay on the basis of a Finnish application or on the basis of the examination results of a PCT application examined by the PRH.

The idea of the PPH system is to fast-track the processing of patent applications and to reduce overlapping examination work done by different patent offices. PPH means that an applicant who has filed a first application with a first office, and has received a positive opinion that the claims are allowable, may request fast-track processing when filing a corresponding application with a second office.

For more detailed instructions about how to file a request, go to our PPH pages.
