Start-up notification of an association with the Trade Register
A non-profit association must file a start-up notification with the Trade Register if it
- has a permanent place of business or
- employs at least one person
for the purpose of carrying on a trade.
Start-up notification of an association registered at the Register of Associations with the Trade Register
If the association is already registered with the PRH Register of Associations, file the notification with the Trade Register as notification of changes.
Who signs the notification?
The notification is signed by the chairperson of the association’s executive committee, an adult member of the executive committee filed with the Register of Associations, or a person authorised by either of the persons mentioned above.
If an authorised person signs the notification, enclose a certified copy of a special power of attorney or the original general power of attorney.
Fees
The handling fee for the start-up notificiation with the Trade Register is 400 euros.
A separate handling fee is 75 euros for each auxiliary company name

What forms and attachments do I need?
Download and save the following forms to your computer and fill them in:
- Form Y4a in Finnish
- Form Y4a in Swedish
- Appendix form 19A in Finnish
- Appendix form 19A in Swedish
- Personal data form
Use the personal data form to file any personal identification details with the Finnish Trade Register. Do not include personal identity codes or home addresses on any other notification forms.
Please fill in the forms either in Finnish or in Swedish.
Attach the following documents:
- Receipt for the handling fee
- Evidence of the association’s right to practice a trade, if necessary
- If holders of procuration are filed for registration with the Trade Register, evidence of their election in the form of a certified copy of the meeting of the executive committee
Do not attach any documents that contain personal identity codes, home addresses, or other sensitive information, such as health details.
How to file
On appendix form 19A, there is a field for other matters to be filed with the register, labelled "
Use this field to mention that the association wants to be filed with the Trade Register and provide the following details in Finnish or in Swedish:
- The association’s company name
- The company name must contain the association’s name as entered in the Trade Register.
- If your association wishes to register auxiliary company names at the Trade Register, file the names and the part of the business carried out under each name. Please note that you must pay a separate handling fee for each auxiliary company name.
- What type of business the association carries out
- The type of business carried out by the association must be different from the purpose of the association as stated in the association’s rules.
- The postal address the association uses in its business.
If you wish to change the details already entered in the Trade Register, file only the parts that have changed.

Who signs the notification?
The chairperson of the executive committee signs the notification. If the association is filing its executive committee with the Register of Associations, then any other adult committee member can also sign the notification.

- The handling fee for the Register of Associations is 120 euros.
- The handling fee for the start-up notificiation with the Trade Register is 400 euros.
- A separate handling fee 75 euros for each auxiliary company name.
The fees must be paid in advance. Enclose the receipts with the notification.
