Advisory committee for the development of collective management of copyright

The advisory committee monitors and assesses the development of practices for the collective management of copyright. The advisory committee promotes good practices and gives recommendations on procedures and standards in the field of copyright.

The advisory committee also promotes the use of alternative ways to resolve disputes in matters covered by the Finnish Act on Collective Management of Copyright. The advisory committee assists the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and the PRH in matters covered by the Finnish Act on Collective Management of Copyright and the EU Directive on collective management of copyright.

The advisory committee consists of representatives from Finnish collective management organisations, right holders, users and authorities. Ms Viveca Still, Copyright Counsellor at the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, is the chairperson, and the secretary is from the PRH. Read more about the composition of the advisory committee on the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture website in Finnish or in Swedish.

The advisory committee meets at least twice a year, as required by the matters it needs to deal with. Go to the committee minutes in Finnish.

The Finnish Government has appointed the advisory committee for a three-year period starting from 10 December 2017. Section 62 of the Finnish Act on Collective Management of Copyright lays down provisions on the appointment of the advisory committee.
