Accessibility statement: Trademark Information Service

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) will do its best to ensure the Trademark Information Service meets the accessibility requirements laid down in the law (Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019, available in Finnish and in SwedishOpen link in a new tab). We work constantly to improve the accessibility of the service, and will update this statement when necessary.

How this accessibility statement was compiled

This statement was compiled on 7 August 2020.

The statement is based on:

  • an assessment carried out by a third party (Eficode Oy) about whether the website meets the requirements laid down in the directive (EU) 2016/2102; and
  • our own assessment that most of the problems the third party discovered in their assessment have been corrected according to the instructions of the third party.

How accessible this online service is

This online service mainly fulfils the requirements laid down in the law (Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019, available in Finnish and in SwedishOpen link in a new tab). However, the pictures, sounds, and video material of the trademarks are not accessible due to their nature. Other problems in accessibility are listed below.

Non-accessible content

Functions listed below do not meet the accessibility requirements yet, but we are working on ways to correct the problems as we develop the service further:

  1. (WCAG 1.1.1. 1.3.1) Using the search result view with a screen reader is demanding.
  2. (WCAG 1.3.1) In some respects, the programmatic execution does not meet the visual layout of the page. Content presented visually in tabular form is not determined in an appropriate manner.
  3. (WCAG 1.4.3) Some of the colour contrasts are insufficient.
  4. (WCAG 3.1.2) Certain parts of the content written in a language other than the one chosen for the user interface are not programmatically determined.
  5. (WCAG 2.4.2) Some of the pages lack unique titles and do not include the name of the service.
  6. (WCAG 1.3.1) The different HTML heading levels are not used logically in all respects.
  7. (WCAG 4.1.2) In the icons for selecting different search result views, the active icon is not programmatically or visually determined.
  8. (WCAG 2.4.7, 2.2.1) In the header of the service, the colours used to indicate the active element are not visible enough.
  9. Using the date picker with a screen reader and a keyboard is demanding.
  10. Popover windows: Aria-describedby does not work as expected.
