Digital identity wallets for companies
In the future, businesses will be able to use digital identity wallets for identity verification and secure access to various services. The EU’s eIDAS2 Regulation requires each EU Member State to offer at least one wallet app by the end of 2026. In Finland, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) will offer Finnish citizens a digital wallet for smartphones. The PRH will play a key role in developing the same wallet for companies.
Identity wallets for companies
The digital identity wallet provides Finnish businesses with a secure tool for identity verification and sharing information with their partners as well as public authorities. The identity wallet for both citizens and companies involves supplying the wallet with verified data about the individual or business using the wallet. In Finland, the DVV will be responsible for providing the necessary identification data for citizens, while the PRH will be responsible for company data.
The PRH to provide identification data for companies
The identification data (Legal Person Identifier, LPID) for companies will be sourced from an official register to ensure reliable integration with European digital wallets. The PRH has started preparations for introducing, in other words issuing, LPIDs. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2026.
The LPIDs will enable the private sector to develop wallet applications for both Finnish companies and businesses in other EU countries, as these will not be offered by the public sector.
