PRH joins the PPH eXtra network
The Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) system fast-tracks the processing of patent applications and reduces overlapping examination work by different patent offices. An applicant who has filed a first application with one office and received a positive opinion that the claims are allowable may request fast-track processing when filing a corresponding application with a second office.
In addition to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH), 55 patent offices around the world participate in the PPH collaboration.
The PRH joined the PPH eXtra network on 1 December 2025
The PRH joined the PPH system’s development programme PPH eXtra at the beginning of December 2025. The patent offices in PPH eXtra aim to improve the predictability of PPH processing. Therefore, they are committed to announcing and reporting the target processing times for PPH applications. The PRH sends office actions for PPH applications within three months of the PPH request or of the applicant’s response to the previous office action.
