PRH is now an officially certified LEI issuer

On 30 January 2018, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) was granted a certificate to issue LEI codes.

The certificate means that the PRH meets the requirements of the Global LEI System and can continue issuing LEI codes to Finnish companies and entities.

The certificate was granted by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) that governs the Global LEI System.

An LEI (Legal Entity Identifier) is necessary for companies and entities trading in listed shares and other securities listed on the stock exchange. The requirement to use LEI codes is based on EU legislation about securities.

Finnish companies and entities, for example registered associations and foundations, with Finnish Business IDs can apply for an LEI at the PRH.

So far the PRH has issued more than 18,600 LEI codes to Finnish companies and entities, and the number continues to grow.
