Electronic submission of financial statements under test – PRH introduced test environment to software companies

The project to enable electronic submission of financial statements in IXBRL format to the Finnish Trade Register has moved to a test phase. The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) has created a test environment which will be available for testing by software companies in January 2019.

The PRH presented the test environment to the representatives of software companies and information service providers in a meeting on 12 December 2018.

In the meeting, we explained how data in IXBRL format is constructed, and introduced our interface for submitting financial statements. We also spoke about the changes to the interface of our financial statements archive.

The test environment will be launched at the turn of the year. Companies can use the test environment to find out how financial statements could be submitted to the Trade Register straight from an accounting program. Software companies can build and test their applications together with the PRH.

During 2019, we will be developing the interface gradually based on user feedback and other criteria.

When the IXBRL interface is released properly, accounting firms using accounting programs will be able to submit financial statements easily to the Trade Register.

The PRH is carrying out the project in collaboration with the Association of Finnish Accounting Firms.

What is IXBRL?

IXBRL (Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language) makes it possible to create, handle, process and visualise business reports electronically.

IXBRL has already been introduced in a number of countries, including Sweden.
