Termination of appointment and notification of resignation to the Finnish Trade Register in different company forms
Companies must file any changes in their details recorded in the Finnish Trade Register. If a company neglects to file changes, outdated details on registered persons can remain in the register. In such a case, it is to your advantage to report yourself your resignation or terminated appointment to the Finnish Trade Register.
It is very important to notify the Finnish Trade Register if you have left your position in a general partnership or a limited partnership. Otherwise, the partner’s liability for the company’s debts and other obligations may continue until the resignation has been entered into the Finnish Trade Register, and has been published.
Please note: Neither your resignation nor the termination of your appointment are legally recognised by notifying the Finnish Trade Register; to do that you must comply with the legal provisions that regulate the appointment or position concerned.

File the changes without delay.

Fee
The notification of your resignation or the termination of an appointment entered in the register is free of charge.
How to file
You can file your notification online at ytj.fi if the terminated appointment relates to the following companies or organisations:
- Limited liability company and public limited company
- Housing company
- Mutual real estate limited company
- Private trader
- General partnership
- Limited partnership
- Co-operative
- Insurance company and public insurance company
- Mutual insurance company and public mutual insurance company
- Co-operative bank and savings bank
Please note: You must file your notification using our online form if the notification concerns a terminated appointment or own resignation in a supervisory board.
If the terminated appointment concerns other company forms than those listed above, you cannot file your notification in the online service at ytj.fi. File the notification using our online form.
How to file your notification in the online service at ytj.fi
Go to the online filing at ytj.fiAvautuu uuteen välilehteen in Finnish and Swedish. From 1 January 2026, it is not possible to file notifications on paper forms.
Please note that a notification concerning a terminated appointment in a branch or a supervisory board cannot be filed online at ytj.fi. In this case, file the notification on our online form. See our instructions below.
Select what your notification relates to. Enter the requested details.
Please note: In the service, fill in your own contact details in “Lisätietojen antaja” or “Lämnare av tilläggsuppgifter” (a contact person) to receive a Trade Register extract concerning the registration. Otherwise, we will send the register extract to the company’s address.
Sign in the service.
How to file your notification using our online form
Download and save the following form to your computer and fill it in: Form Y4
Enter the terminated appointment on page 2 of form Y4, under “Additional information to the PRH”.
To receive a Trade Register extract about the registration, fill in your contact details in the field where you can indicate the person providing further information on the notification. Otherwise, we will send the register extract to the company’s address.
Log in to the online form Ilmoitus kaupparekisteriinAvautuu uuteen välilehteen in Finnish or Anmälan till handelsregistretAvautuu uuteen välilehteen in Swedish. From 1 January 2026, it is not possible to file notifications on paper forms.
Select what your notification relates to. Fill in the required details and attach the form.
Remember to press Send.
