Marketing letters from other service providers
LEI code owners can receive marketing letters from other service providers. The letters may state that the recipient’s LEI code is about to expire and that they need to renew or transfer the code by stressing the urgency of the matter.
The letters may come from Finland or other countries in Finnish or English.

Renew your LEI code by paying the annual fee in time
Your LEI code is valid for 12 months at a time. The PRH sends an invoice for the annual fee about two months before the validity of the code expires. In order to keep the code active, make sure you pay the annual fee by the due date. No other actions are required to renew the code. Read more about renewing your LEI code.
Draft bill: A transition period for transferring codes from the PRH
The reason why the marketing letters have become more common may be a draft bill that the Finnish Parliament is currently preparing. According to the draft bill, the issuance of LEI codes at the PRH will end. However, after the act has been adopted, LEI code owners will have approximately three years to transfer their codes to another service provider. Read more about the draft bill.
