Fees for in­ter­na­tional (PCT) patent ap­pli­ca­tions

The fees below apply to PCT applications in the international phase (PCT Phases I and II). When you pursue an international PCT application in Finland, we apply the fees for Finnish national applications.

The fees below are official fees and not subject to VAT.

PCT Phase I (filing and search)

The fees in PCT Phase I are paid into the bank account of the receiving office, i.e. the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH), except for the supplementary search (SIS) fee which is payable to WIPO. When filing a PCT application, you must pay at least a transmittal fee, an international filing fee and a search fee.

PCT Phase II (preliminary examination)

The fees in Phase II are paid into the bank account of the examining patent authority, i.e. the PRH, the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV), or the European Patent Office (EPO). Please note that the offices charge different fees. The PRH’s fees are shown below. When requesting preliminary examination, you must pay at least a handling fee and a preliminary examination fee.
