In the future, the Unified Patent Court will litigate disputes over unitary patents (UP) and classical European patents which are currently dealt with in national courts. The operation of the Court is essential for introducing the unitary patent system.
Germany must still ratify the UPC Agreement before the unitary patent system and the Unified Patent Court can start.
The unitary patent system will start at the same time with the UPC.
