Termination of an association

An association cannot be informally terminated.

Instead, an association is dissolved by liquidation after the association’s meeting has made the decision. When making decisions, every association must comply with the Finnish Associations Act and the rules of the association.

What are liquidation proceedings?

Under the Finnish Associations Act, the purpose of the liquidation proceedings is to establish the association's financial standing, to convert the necessary assets into money, to pay any debts and to spend the remaining assets in compliance with the rules of the association and the Finnish Associations Act.

Read our instructions on how to file a notification of termination (dissolution) of an association.
