Notification of changes to the Register of Religious Communities

If the registered details of a religious community change, file a notification of changes with the Register of Religious Communities.

File the following changes:

  • change of address
  • change of persons entitled to sign for the community
  • change of a register entry about the executive committee
  • change of the bylaws of the religious community
  • change of the local rules of a local community.


Registering the executive committee is voluntary.

How to file the notification

It is not possible to file the notification online.

File the notification using form Y4a (notification of changes and termination), appendix form 19B and the personal data form. Please note that the forms are only available in Finnish and in Swedish. Save the forms to your computer, fill them in and print out.

Who signs the notification?

The notification (also for a local community or congregation) must be signed by:

  • the chairperson of the executive committee of the religious community; or
  • another registered committee member; or
  • a person authorised by one of the above-mentioned persons.

If an authorised person signs the notification, enclose a certified copy of a special power of attorney or the original general power of attorney.

What does it cost?

Notifying about a change of address is free of charge.

For all other notifications of changes, we charge a handling fee as follows:

  • Change of chairperson or person entitled to sign for the religious community or local community, and notification of executive committee or change of registered details about the executive committee: 25 euros.
  • Change of the bylaws of a religious community: 220 euros.
  • Change of the local rules of a local community: 220 euros.

What documents need to be enclosed?

Enclose a receipt for the handling fee with the notification.

If the notification concerns a change of bylaws or local rules, enclose the amended bylaws or local rules with the notification.

You do not have to enclose any minutes or extracts of them.

If an authorised person signs the notification, enclose a certified copy of a special power of attorney or the original general power of attorney.

Send your paper notification to us within a week after the payment to avoid delay in processing the notification.
